its alive!!

yess ladies and gents, shes good to go. took longer than expected
but i guess that the problem with regular life taking time away from what it should be.
i still got a few finishing touches to complete. things are either in the mail or yet to be bought (new tires), now all i need to do is ride...

things done:
all rust on frame sanded and painted
headset cleaned and re-greased (will need to be replaced in the future due to indexed steering)
bottom bracket cleaned and re-greased
shimano bar-end shifters installed
new jagwire brake/shift cables and housing
new KMC chain

i also noticed that my rear wheel has quite some play in it. probably the bearings are shot im guessing.
going to address that some time soon....

another good saturday

i tested out Google Tracks today, an app on my android phone to track the ride. worked out great. lots of cool stats and pretty accurate. top speed - 30.2 mph on my singlespeed! elevation map is nice too. didnt destroy battery life neither. we also had a new rider with us, got him on a nice Surly Steamroller singlespeed.
enjoy the pics.

thursdays route, over the Queensboro and back. we did have the intention of heading to central park to do a lap but had to turn around due to technical difficulties. good 30 mile ride nonetheless, minus the hiccups.
such is life...
roadside assistance at its finest. caught total of 3 flats for the day. shout out to LIC bikes next to the
QB bridge for hookin us up.  support - http://longislandcitybikes.wordpress.com/

QB bridge, shout out to the pizzeria right here. helped us out with some band-aids

todays ride, a nice quarter century loop. weather is gorgeous. good thing i quit my job so i can enjoy it.

technical difficulties of my own today. a quick patch kit repair saved the ride.
definitely a good investment.

messing around with a new panoramic option on my phone. not perfect but, not terrible i guess

rockaway beach. you can still see remnants of hurricane irene.

we're trying to do the escape from NY century. hope that will work out.
until next time....

34 mile sunday cruise

a humid but nice day for a good adventure. started late after completing errands. good thing we have bike lights as they help visibility as we ride well into the darkness. more so for others (cars) to see us and not hit us. i know the mapped out route looks funny, and yes we sure rode a funny route making several circles and backtracks, but i guess that just how cool it was. that we had to do it twice... enjoy the ride!

new saddle. comfort fi mi bum bum

words fail.. i guess that's kinda the point huh...

rode the williamsburg bridge for the first time today. pretty damn nice. i gotta say the city has done a damn fine job with providing safe and adequate spaces for us cyclists. and its only going to get better...
 roof art

chrystie st. taken from our pit stop at grand street park for some water. stop by and check out the guys playing bike polo. its pretty interesting.

 delancy street off the williamsburg

taken from east river park while going uptown towards the queensboro bridge for ride back to BK this is a nice path but they really need to repave a lot of road surface which i'm sure they're planning to. the east side still has much room for improvement, especially when compared to the west side paths.

back in BK, at atlantic terminal where the best empanada truck usually is.

42 mile tour

Took a nice tour of the west side today. Started out from our usual route down Ocean Parkway to Prospect Park. Then through downtown BK which is probably my favorite parts of the ride. Hopped on the Manhattan Bridge for the first time. Much improved from what I remember walking it when I was younger. Onward through some of chinatown shooting to the west side. All the way up to the GWB. It was a great ride with great weather and views. Enjoy!

getting ready to go, rendez-vous at my boy samfish's crib.

dope flea market at lafayette and vanderbilt. i definitely recommend checking this out. they're there on saturdays and in williamsburg on sundays. support - http://www.brooklynflea.com/
manhattan bridge has little ramps for you to roll your bike up the stairs. nice touch.

you can hop on a kayak/canoe on the west side! and its free!! support - http://www.downtownboathouse.org/

and here we are at the George Washington Bridge connecting NJ to us. Pretty nice when you're not stuck in traffic on it.

stopped at a food cart for some authentic chicharron (fried pork rinds) con tostones (fried green plantain). probably wasn't the greatest thing to eat while doing athletic activity but MAN, good stuff.....

Brooklyn Bridge bike onramp at centre st. taking a break before the climb up. good spot to do some people watching.

super ace market on 7th ave, park slope. pit stop for some fluids and to appreciate the beautiful rose mural on the window.

I highly encourage everyone to get outdoors and enjoy their city, town, neighborhood, whatever. there's so much, and it costs nothing.
